Opticomm Announces 48 Port Ethernet Blade, GEB-4800-IC
San Diego, CA- April XX, 2007- Opticomm announces a new 48 port Ethernet blade, the
GEB-4800-IC, in response to the increasing market demand for additional switching and
linking options.
The GEB-4800-IC port blade supports 10 Megabit, 100 Megabit, and 1 Gigabit Ethernet
speeds. Each port blade can accept 48 RJ-45 (CAT5) cables directly. Incoming copper
signals can be routed out to SFP port cards (Models SFPB-4800-IC and SFPB-4800-RJIC)
for media conversion to optical. The GEB-4800-IC supports auto speed negotiation
and auto cable re-wiring.
The GEB-4800-IC, when used with the Optilinx™ OLX-3000, enables high-speed
switching between all 48 ports (duplex multicasting is not possible). Each port can
accommodate an RJ-45 connection. Up to 3 blades can be inserted in any Optilinx™
OLX-3000 Mainframe, enabling up to 144 Ports (4RU switch), or 288 connections (using
6 blades), via the 8RU switch.
