Robertson Taylor Insurance Brokers Ltd was formed in 1977 by Willie Robertson, Bob Taylor and Ian France to specifically provide insurance broking and risk management services to the music and live event industries. At that time there were no specialist policies, and only a few brave Lloyd's underwriters would consider offering cover even for "safe"; live occasions, such as sporting events or classical concerts, let alone for a demanding world tour by a rock band determined to "live fast, die young, leave a good-looking corpse", and the very concept of insurance was totally alien to the bands, their managers and promoters

Starting out with just six staff in a tiny office, the Company now employs over 100 specialist personnel, has wholly-owned operating subsidiaries in New York, and Los Angeles and is comfortably ranked within the top 75 UK insurance brokers. By educating the insurance market about the needs of event organisers, and by educating event organisers about the need for good risk management, the market has expanded over the last 25 years into a multi-million-dollar business.

Robertson Taylor has long been regarded internationally as the leading insurance specialist in the music and live event industries. The cover that we have provided ranges from a one-off musical event at $20 million, which was the largest ever non-appearance placement for a single event, to world tours by major artists where every show is a multi-million dollar event, to insuring would-be superstars as they are taking their first step on the ladder to stardom.

For many years we have also arranged specialist insurances for the sports, conference and exhibition, theatre, film, television and broadcasting industries, including major international sporting events, some of the world's best known musical and stage productions, feature and television productions, pop promos, commercials and one-off television specials.
